Private Health Funds
Please speak to your private health fund to determine whether you are eligible for speech pathology and/or lactation consultant rebates.
Medicare
The Chronic Disease Management Care Plan (CDM) program provides Medicare rebates for allied health services, for children who have chronic medical conditions. Your GP decides if you are eligible and fills in a specific CDM referral form.
You can access a maximum of 5 rebates per calendar year. The current Medicare rebate is $60 per appointment. You cannot claim with Medicare and your private health for the same appointment.
If you have reached your Medicare Safety Net for the year, you might be able to claim back from Medicare 80% of the cost of your appointment.
Medicare Helping Children with Autism Program
A Paediatrician can refer a child (under 13 years of age) to Speech Pathology to access up to 4 assessment sessions to assist with diagnosis and up to 20 therapy sessions. The current rebate is $79 per appointment.
NDIS
Sound Beginnings Allied Health can see NDIS clients who have self-managed funds or plan-managed funds. You can apply for NDIS funding here - https://www.benevolent.org.au/referrals/ndis-eca-support-referral
