Frequently Asked Questions

Paediatric Speech Pathology is a specialised service that supports children with difficulties in speech, language, communication, reading, spelling, stuttering,  feeding, and swallowing. A paediatric Speech Pathologist assesses and treats children from birth to adolescence.

You should consider seeing a Speech Pathologist if your child is late to talk, hard to understand, struggling with listening, following instructions, stuttering, or having trouble with feeding, reading, or spelling.

Children can start Speech Therapy as early as a few months old and even from birth if there are feeding concerns or diagnosed hearing challenges. Our speech Pathologists also support toddlers, pre-schoolers, and school-aged children up to 14 years old.

Signs of a delay include not using words by 12 months, difficulty following directions, limited vocabulary for age, unclear speech, or not engaging in back-and-forth conversations. An assessment by a Speech Pathologist can provide clarity.

No referral is needed. Parents and caregivers can contact us directly to book an assessment or therapy session.

If you are eligible for Medicare rebates, you will need a referral from a GP or Paediatrician prior to your appointment with a Speech Pathologist. Once the invoice is paid, we can process the Medicare rebate for you.

Speech therapy sessions are play-based and tailored to your child’s goals. They may include fun activities that improve speech sounds, language skills, listening, social communication, or feeding strategies.

Yes. Paediatric Speech Pathologists can support children with reading and spelling difficulties by building phonological awareness, vocabulary, and understanding of language structures.
